GEOGRAPHY
Description
The Department of Geography, the only semi-science discipline in this College, was introduced right from its inception in 1980. The Department teaches both theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. Keeping with the national pattern, Honours course was introduced during the 2012 academic session.
Vision
- To envision the department to be the preferred choice of study.
- To encourage students in taking up Honours in lieu of taking up post graduation.
- To separate departmental room with personal reference books, and lastly
- To foster a well informed society with responsible global citizens.
Mission
The Mission of the Department is to stimulate and promote excellence in geographic knowledge through the following:
- To inculcate and create professionalism among the students through continuous extensive and intensive assessment and evaluating the performances.
- To create curiosity and an inquisitive bet of mind in consonance with the existing problem of man-environment and in finding ways and means for solution.
- Capacity building through mentoring and seminars.
- To collaborate with other colleges and universities across the State for promoting innovative learning and teaching practices.
