Description
Established ever since the very inception of the College in 1980, The Department offered General course only at the undergraduate level till Honours course was introduced in 2010. The semester system, following the national pattern, was introduced in 2012 and the Department is striving hard to impart meaningful education to the learners of the hilly part of this region and to achieve excellence in higher education.
Vision
The development of awareness of language as a social phenomenon, its structure and behaviour; the development of taste and maturity of mind, the ability to think independently and form sound judgement; and the creation of socially productive citizens.
Mission
To familiarize the learners with modern literary classics in English as a general cultural attainment, to develop a flair for the English language by enabling them to attain communicative competence, and also to develop literary sensibility by developing in them literary competence required for analyzing and evaluating a piece of literary text.
